I really like this exercise. I think it is great for your core & your gluteus. I like to do this variation with my clients and for myself. 

When you bend your leg it does a better job of engaging our gluteus maximus which is important! We need to do a better job of engaging this muscle!

Having strong core & gluteus maximus muscles allows you to live a higher quality of life & reduce back pain

A set I like to do with my clients is:

3 x :20 seconds each side. 

If you get better at this then you can add time or maybe an ankle weight or light dumbbell!

This is an excellent exercise to do both at home & the gym. There are many exercises you can do at home that you should also be doing at the gym!
